Bungalow. Surrounded by luxuriant tea garden and verdant forest Bodaganj Forest

tower in Bodaganj which is ideal for bird watching and spotting wild animals.

Bodaganj is a village in the Baikunthapur
forest area close to Siliguri and Jalpaiguri town. The area is close to river Teesta and is considered to be a
place of historical significance. It is believed that Decoit Queen Devi
Choudhurani and her ‘Guru’ Bhabani Pathak ruled the area and its forests.
Bodaganj area is also home of Bhamri Devi temple which is one of the 51 piths
of the Sakti sect. The area is close to Teesta river and there are places

Devi Temple: Bhramri Devi
Temple is one of the 51 Shakti peethas in West Bengal. It is one of the famous
places to visit while staying in Bodaganj Eco-Tourism Centre. Bhramri Devi
Temple is a sacred temple in West Bengal. And according to hindu mythology in
this very place, leg of Devi Sati had fallen. During auspicious day pilgrims
from far and wide travel to Bodaganj to visit Bhramri Devi Temple. This
hallowed temple is located at a 10 minutes walking distance from Bodaganj
Eco-Tourism.
Teesta
Barrage: Located at a distance of 30km
is Teesta Barrage another famous place to visit around Badoganj. It is one of
the biggest water projects of the region. The marshy land around Teesta Barrage
is ideal breeding ground for the migratory water fowls of Central Asia and
Ladakh. Hence during winter season Teesta Barrage become the paradise for the
avid birdwatchers visiting Dooars region.
Baikunthapur
Forest: Located adjacent to Bodaganj
Eco-Tourism in the western region of Dooars is the mythical forest of
Baikunthapur. According to the famous legend, Lord Krishna went into the hiding
with his principal wife and queen Rukmani in the verdant forest of
Baikunthapur. Blessed with rich flora and fauna it is another famous place to
visit in Badoganj.
Shikarpur
Tea Garden: Enclosing the
quaint village of Bodaganj, Shikarpur Tea Garden is another famous attraction
for the tourist lodging in the forest bungalow of Bodaganj. Visitors can take a
tour around the lush tea garden and watch the tea leaves being plucked and send
for the further processing.
How to reach Bodaganj
Situated in the Jalpaiguri District,
visitors can easily reach Bodaganj by boarding a train for Jalpaiguri Road
Station and Jalpaiguri Town Station. From Bodaganj Eco-Tourism Centre
Jalpaiguri Road Station and Jalpaiguri Town Station are situated at a distance
of 17km and 21km respectively . After reaching the respective junction visitors
can either hire a car to reach Badoganj. Or they can take a shared auto till
the quaint village of Bodaganj.
Bodaganj is close to both Siliguri and
Jalpaiguri town. There are a number of routes leading here. The easiest to
follow is via Fatapukur, a small town midway between Jalpaiguri – Siliguri
highway. From Fatapukur drive to Belakoba (4 kms) from here village roads will
lead you to Bodaganj about 10 kms away.
Bodaganj, Ambari, Kathambari, Kranti and
Odlabari are small settlement in the region wherever the forest stretch is bit
less. Greenery and the surrounding make these places attractive. These are some
more places of tourist interest and are closer to Siliguri and situated in the
Duars or Dooars belt used by hoards of people as picnic spot or for safari or
even for angling and birding. Teesta Canal passes through some of these places.
All these places are at a distance of 25 kilometers to 90 kilometers from
Siliguri or Jalpaiguri town. Bodaganj is 25 kilometers away from Jalpaiguri and
nearly 55 kilometers from Siliguri situated in the Shikarpur forest. Nearest
station is Ambari, Falakata or New Jalpaiguri. Ambari, Kathambari, Bodaganj
Odlabari is natural places of beauty enhanced by the Tea Estate, Forest or the
green fields intercepted by the rivers or Canals of the Dooars / Duars.
Forest bungalow is available in all these four places and can be booked
through us. Scenic beauty especially the greenery with the snow capped
Himalayas during winter and spring season attracts thousands of tourist and
picnic party from far of places. Angling Birding and long drives are the best
entertainment one can enjoy. The scenic beauty changes with the thick
growth of forest and the fast flowing rivers and the hills on the background.
These places can be enjoyed with long drive from Lataguri or Jalpaiguri or
Siliguri. It’s just visiting these places and some temple like Jalpesh and
having food at Roadside eateries popularly known as Dhaba or just angling in
any of the water body or river. All these places are well connected by roads
and to rest of India. N.H. 31 is the main highway of the area.

Foundation stone of this project was laid by Late Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal, on 19th January, 1987. Now it becomes one of the important tourist as well as picnic spots of Dooars and Terai area of North Bengal. It is surrounded by the dense forests of Baikunthapur.
The area around Gajoldoba is a nice place that attract tourist. The reservoir, surrounded by the dense forests, invites a large collection of migratory birds, specially during the winter. The Gajoldoba barrage in itself is an attractive place to spend some leisurely time on the spur with a binocular. One can take a ride with family and friend, in the local fisherman’s boat in the river Teesta, The Baikunthapur forests is also home to a number of wildlife variety.
Actually Gajoldoba is a small village. There is no regular commercially available tourist accommodation or good resort. A few budget tourist accommodations have started sprouting here and there.
