Kalipur Eco Village
Fascinating stay at Kalipur Eco-Village
The Gorumara National Park in Northern West
Bengal has 2 Eco-Villages. We stayed at the Kalipur Eco-Village. Beautiful
property with 4 rooms (sort of huts basically), that can accommodate 3 persons
each. Rooms are lovely with attached bath which has all amenities except a
geyser. This deficiency is more than made up by the service boys who would
provide hot water from the kitchen at the drop of the hat.
If you intend to spend a couple of days in the midst of
nature, and have a first-hand experience of an unconventional life, then
Kalipur is the perfect choice for you. Kalipur is basically an Eco-Village,
located not very far from Dooars. It is a part of the Gorumara National Park,
and is nestled within the Indo-Bhutan border. It is place where you can enjoy
an Elephant ride in the morning, while going for your forest trek, and witness
the tribal dance in the evening in order to relax your tired self.
Imagine living in such a place where electrified elephant fences run just behind the huts.A huge tea Garden is across the dirt track that takes you inside the village. The package includes all foods - delicious and plenty. It also includes an Elephant Safari inside the National Park. We saw hordes of Indian Gaur and a couple of Rhinos during safari. Peacocks dance around the place throughout. The best part of the stay was a tribal dance show in the evening. Services are excellent. You even get a parting gift when you leave. See the photographs.
